Editorial standards

Accuracy comes before speed. Attribution should be clear. Updates should not quietly erase meaningful mistakes.

Sourcing

Reports should rely on identifiable first-party documents, direct statements, on-the-record interviews or other credible sources appropriate to the claim. Aggregated reporting should identify the originating publication when it contributes material facts.

Automation and AI

Automated systems may assist with monitoring, transcription, organization, comparison, summarization and drafting. Sensitive or consequential claims should receive human editorial review before publication.

Corrections

Substantive factual errors should be corrected promptly and disclosed. Routine copy edits that do not change meaning do not require a correction note.

Opinion

News reporting and opinion should be labeled and presented as distinct editorial products.
